Placed at the toe of the forested hillside of the mountains and the adjacent urban neighborhood, this modern Boulder home captures the panoramic views of the foothills while at the same time embracing an intimate privacy. The layered horizontal slabs step up sloping site while maintaining a low profile dictated by the low height limit. Conceived as a series of horizontal elements, the courtyard house typology is utilized to achieve private interiors within the suburban context. The upper-most horizontal element cantilevers 20' over the roof-top deck, providing unhindered views of the mountains, and creating a true indoor/outdoor private living space.
