23RD ST. BUNGALOW

This small urban lot, like many in Boulder, posed specific design challenges in balancing City requirements with the desire for the maximum square footage allowed.

Remaining consistent with the vernacular  facade of the surrounding homes, a traditional bungalow exterior was decided on. The compartmentalized interior layout typical of these homes was updated into an open concept floor plan with vaulted ceilings, allowing in floods of natural light and ample space for the display of artwork.

Space for gardening and outdoor living were also priorities for this project and a challenge on such a small lot. To accommodate this, a covered patio was carved out of the east side of the home, as well as a rooftop deck with raised planting beds situated above the Garage.
