The Greenest House is the Existing House

Whether it is part sentiment or finances, sometimes keeping a portion of your existing home makes sense when planning your home renovation. Often, the greenest home is the one that’s already there. Such is the case in a current project we’re working on in North Boulder.

Because a portion of the existing home was already renovated by the homeowners, we plan to retain that portion of the house and straddle a new second floor addition over the existing foundation to expand their space as their family grows. See photos below for the before, during and proposed after.

The entire house will receive new siding, windows, a roof, and insulation to meet current City of Boulder energy codes, as well as to make the old and new blend seamlessly.
